Southern Rep Student Matinees
Each year Southern Rep produces several plays that will work wonderfully with your curriculum, helping to meet Louisiana Educational Benchmarks and Standard in an innovative setting (ELA 1-M2, ELA-5-M2, ELA-6-M3, ELA-1-H3). Study guides are also available to help you better integrate the field trip experience into your classroom lesson plan. In addition, students are treated to an after-show talkback with the actors and director, where they can ask questions about the theatrical process. All Student Matinees take place at Canal Place, on the 3rd floor, right near a food court, so you don't have to worry about running back to school for lunch time!

This year's Student Matinee offerings include:
A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE | March 28 7 April 4 at 10 am | appropriate for grades 7 - 12
by Tennessee Williams
Widely considered a landmark play, A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE deals with a culture clash between two symbolic characters, Blanche DuBois, a fading relic of the Old South, and Stanley Kowaiski, a rising member of the industrial, urban immigrant class. When Blanche DuBois visits her younger married sister Stella following the loss of their ancestral home, Blanche's frail mental health fails under husband Stanley's unremitting scrutiny. Join us for the 100th anniversary of this gem of American theatre cannon.
