HOW CAN I BE A PART OF 4D?

All interested theatre-makers must fill out the attached application form cover letter and prepare the materials listed under their position of interest. Please also read the attached program guidelines. For this round, we cannot develop musicals, so please limit your writing samples to non-musical plays.

 

APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED! Please send application materials to helen@southernrep.com with the subject 4D APPLICATION no later than Friday, February 16 at midnight Monday, February 26 at 11:59 p.m. We will inform applicants in early March and begin the program in mid-March of 2018.

We want our 4D teams to reflect the city of New Orleans. People of color, indigenous people, women, queer folks, trans* and gender non-conforming people, and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

4D GUIDELINES

 

  • If accepted into 4D, you are required to attend two meetings a month, one with the larger 4D group and one with your collaborative trio. For Dramatists, you will be required to submit pages for those meetings and for Directors and Dramaturgs, you are required to read submitted pages and to give detailed feedback. These meetings are the heart of the program and are mandatory.
  • All 4D participants will be required to see all Southern Rep mainstage shows (tickets will be provided)
  • All 4D participants are required to attend the invited in-progress readings and the final staged readings.
  • Dramatists are required to write and re-write a new play written especially for this process. Previously written or developed work will not be accepted.
