In 2016-17, Southern Rep launched a new Community Engagement program that requires and involves community in a meaningful way.
By increasing the number of “seats” at our theatre-making table, we start to cultivate and grow long-term community relationships. SRT will not only deepen its relationship with the multiple communities of which we are a part but simultaneously increase our value as a cherished cultural organization in New Orleans.
What is the Community Table?
The community table is a platform for art-making and conversation. We work to include to a diverse representation of our community in the planning and design of that programming in an effort to provide the most nutritious and enriching offerings possible.
What is being served?
Our Community Table Programming includes:
Free community art-making events! SRT provides the space, material and facilitation necessary to make these moments happen on a regular basis.
Southern Rep Theatre’s Community-Powered Events happen because of you! Aspiring actors, community performers, future Oscar winners, and everything in between – whether it’s your first time on stage or you live and breathe theatre, this means you! FREE acting workshops and open call auditions help prepare any member of our community to be part of a special summer production at Southern Rep. Stay tuned for information about the 2019 Community-Powered Event.
Radical Solutions Conversations: Conversations for Change
Free programming designed to offer a platform for community-led problem solving and dialogue. Participants are invited to engage with a diverse panel of civic leaders and local/statewide thought leaders on ways to strengthen and build our community for another 300 years.
