Lagniappe Stage

By increasing the number of “seats” at our theatre-making table, we start to cultivate and grow long-term community relationships.

The Vision

In 2016-17, Southern Rep launched a new Community Engagement program that requires and involves community in a meaningful way. By increasing the number of “seats” at our theatre-making table, we start to cultivate and grow long-term community relationships. SRT will not only deepen its relationship with the multiple communities of which we are a part but simultaneously increase our value as a cherished cultural organization in New Orleans.

What Is The Community Table?

The community table is a platform for art-making and conversation. We work to include to a diverse representation of our community in the planning and design of that programming in an effort to provide the most nutritious and enriching offerings possible.

What Is Being Served?

Our Lagniappe Programming includes: (see below)

Second Saturdays

Every 2nd Saturday of the month, bring the family to a free storytime performance by Southern Rep Theatre Acting Company members. Join us as we experience a great story, make a special craft, have a delicious snack and finish with a dance party. Story hours are for the entire family (especially kids 2-12 years old) and take place on the Lagniappe Stage inside our new home at 2541 Bayou Road.
