SRT and our presenting partners bring you the amazing theatre collaborative, Universes performing in their newest work, AMERIVILLE. This young group fuses poetry, jazz, hip-hop, politics, down home blues and smoldering Spanish melodies, creating an unforgettable theatre experience. AMERIVILLE takes on what it means to be an American – with heart, impassioned dance and incandescent harmonies.
“Their energy and realness is unmatchable." — The Village Voice
“A headlong explosion of poetry, percussion, and multi-culti musical exploration that absolutely demands to be seen.” — The Boston Globe
"…Exuberant, insightful…a work of heart and soul" — New York Times
“Spilling over with humor, passion, insight and political awareness "— Anchorage Daily News
About Universes' 2004 production of SLANGUAGE:
"It's the performers -- fierce, funny and bitingly intelligent -- who keep your toes tapping and your heart in your mouth. All are prodigiously versatile, handling the demands of the piece -- from dance to song to sound effects to tongue-twisting patter monologues -- with consummate professionalism and aplomb." - Los Angeles Times
